School Handbook

Regular attendance at pre-k puts a student on the path to success in school long-term. The social and school-readiness skills that students learn at this age help them become lifelong learners who will be future ready. 

Transportation is provided to all students who receive this service their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Bus routes, drivers and the bus schedules are determined by our contracted bus company, First Student, Inc. If a bus is late, please call 832-9231 for information. 

Once a child has been found eligible for busing services, it may take several days for the bus to begin. Parents are welcome to transport their child to school until that time. 

If your child is assigned to wear a safety vest for transportation, one will be provided for your child and it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians or daycare provider to put on the child's safety vest prior to getting on the bus. Please see the safety vest instructions tab for directions. 

Safety Vest Instructions

Parents who transport their child to school by car are expected to utilize the parent drop lane.  This is a highly organized and efficient procedure that allows us to transition students into the building safely while the parents stay in the car.  This procedure will be explained to you in detail when you come to enroll your child. 

At dismissal, we utilize several doors across the school in an attempt to spread out the traffic.  To pick up your child, you will park and report to the assigned door.  This procedure will also be described to you during your enrollment meeting.

Please visit the school nurse if you need help with any of the following:

•    Medications, Treatments and Feedings at school
•    Immunization/Shot records
•    Hearing, Vision and Dental Screening
•    Food Allergies/Intolerances
•    Health Concerns/Diagnoses
•    Health Care Resources/Referrals
•    Information about health problems

Please keep your child home for…

•    A fever of 100.4 of higher in the last 24 hours
•    Vomiting two or more times in the last 24 hours
•    Two or more diarrhea stools in the last 24 hours
•    Illness that would cause your child to not be able to learn at school.

ParentVue

The district uses the ParentVUE online portal to give parents to access information about their student's attendance, assignments and grades. ParentVUE allows parents to quickly and easily update their family contact information, which is vital in order to maintain strong home-to-school connections. 

Seesaw

All of our teachers utilize the Seesaw application in their classrooms. We ask that all parents/guardians download the Seesaw app. This will bring your child's classroom to you on your electronic device with uploaded picutres and videos. Teachers will have the ability to control who can view a students content, so your child's work will be completley private. Seesaw makes it easy for parents and teachers to review progress over time and demonstrate growth of the student. Additionally, teachers and parents can send messages directly to each other. Seesaw helps capture the learning process, not just the end result.

At any time you are welcome to reach out to the Little office or your child's teachers.  We welcome your input as you know your child best!

Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great way to stay involved in your child's education. Parents have the opportunity to discuss their child's progress, review assignments, learn about future projects and to strengthen the connection between home and school. Parent-Teacher Conferences are held twice a year in October and February. 

All visitors to the building, including parents, must sign in through our visitor management system HallPass.

Parents, caregivers and other relatives wanting to volunteer in the school or for field trips are required to register every year as a volunteer. Visit the Volunteer Registration page to complete your annual registration.
